As credit card is using widely, as so the need for its terminal. Today there are many type of credit card terminal in market, vary in price range and features. If you need to purchase, know them better and choose which one is the most appropriate for your business.

Credit card terminals are fall into three categorize: stationery, wireless and virtual. Each has its own pros-cons. Stationery perhaps is the most common in sight in retail and restaurant. It is small, cheap and reliable. Wireless credit card terminals are just like stationery terminal with a plus point -according to its name-, it doesn't need cable to connect. Virtual credit card terminal is a credit card software to authorize credit card payment. It is used in internet business. Yap, if you see a web site that accepts credit card most likely it has a virtual credit card terminal installed.

Consider the following points when you decide to purchase credit card terminal:

1. Do you need stationery or wireless type? If your business is internet business then obviously you need virtual credit card terminal. No question about it but if not then you should ask your self: does the counter in permanent location or it is mobile? How about infrastructure such as cabling and power source?

2. If you need virtual credit card terminal check out what kind of features it has and the technical support (we're dealing with software here and there's always a chance of incompability issue). Good helpdesk and technical support must be available 24 x 7. Most software vendors offer "standard" version which can be upgrade to "professional" version. Compare the features and see which one is the best for you. You might want to start with the standard version as it usually costs less and then upgrade when your business grows.

3. Does it come with integrated printer? If it doesn't then you have to purchase an additional stand alone unit. You need printer to issue receipts and slips. And if you decide that you need extra receipt printer, know that there are three types of them:

* dot matrix -inexpensive but slow about 1-4 lines per second

* thermal - faster, quieter and more reliable since they have fewer moving parts but slightly more expensive

* inkjet - rare, can print in multiple colors.

4. How about vendor support, service and training? You and your staff might need training how to operate it, especially if you purchase virtual credit card terminal, you must know how to install, specific requirement your software needs and light trouble shooting.

Accept credit card payment can increase your business value but the credit card terminal is not the only thing you must concern about. There are a few things those can be hidden cost for your business including fraud. Like a
wound that won’t heal, a monthly minimum payment – with
ceaseless regularity and endless strain on your budget – leaves
your account. It’s to pay for the Christmas shopping, or the
last July 4th party, or your holiday two years ago. You don’t
know; frankly you care less – you just want to see it gone. But
when your next statement arrives, the hole your minimum payment
should have burned in your debt is no smaller – the sore remains
unclosed.

Is this situation familiar? Is it you?

If it is, you’ve not heard the worst of it yet. The way that
credit card companies exist and thrive is by exploiting your
debt burden. They’ll lend and lend and lend, until you get to
the point that the most you can pay back each month is the
minimum payment – usually around 2.5 per cent of the balance.
The problem with this is that they hit you with a load of
interest, sometimes amounting to 2 per cent of the balance. If
only one half of a per cent is being paid back it doesn’t take
much math to figure out the amount of time it could take you to
pay back your debts.

In fact, if you’re paying repayment insurance, in some
instances you can pay back less than the amount of debt
accumulating.

It’s a horrible, self-perpetuating cycle of hemorrhaging money,
but the good news is twofold.

First off, you’re not alone. Thousands upon thousands of
decent, hard-working Americans are in this position through no
fault of their own but necessity and the demands of modern
living.

Secondly, if you’re stuck in this horrible cycle of bleeding
money, the chances are that it can be at least partially
redressed. Many Americans have – and still do – unwittingly
signed up to credit card deals that are uncompetitive,
over-priced and unnecessarily expensive. What many don’t
realize, is that simply because you have pledged allegiance to a
particular credit card company doesn’t mean to say that you are
stuck with them for life. There’s a way out that can save you
hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a year and help you pay
off your debt burden more quickly.

Transferring the balance of your credit card to another one is
a way of paying off your existing debt with a new credit card
that you take on at a cheaper rate. In many cases this can be
set at 0 per cent for a period of a number of months, before
reverting to a higher rate. By switching to such a card – and
then another at the end of the interest free term, and maybe
even another after that, it gives you a clear run at reducing
your debt, without it spiraling ever further upwards. Even if
you’re still only paying 2.5 per cent off the balance a month,
far better to do that than knocking off one half of a per cent,
or less.

By bundling up the old expensive credit card debt, getting rid
of it, then paying back the new credit card at a lower rate, you
can save countless dollars each month. You can save even more
money by paying a bit more each month, thus clearing the debt in
a shorter time. By doing this you’ll free up more dollars
further down the line enabling you to spend them on something
really nice.

Unfortunately, 0% deals are not always available to all
customers. If you’ve got a credit rating that’s in some way
below scratch, it is probably unlikely that a 0% credit card
will be made available to you. It’s a sad fact of finance that
the best deals seem to always be available for those who need
them the least.

That said, there are a number of other excellent credit cards
on the market through which you can save many dollars. Even if a
balance transfer rate is as high as 10 or 12 per cent, if you’re
paying upwards of 20 per cent on your existing deal then you’re
clearly going to save a stack of money – even if it’s not as
much as you might have liked.

If you’re concerned about how much you’re paying each month on
your credit card repayment it certainly pays to check out your
existing interest rates and compare them to some of the balance
transfer rates available at competitors: it’s almost a certainty
that you’ll save yourself more than a few dollars.

Even if you’re not worried about your existing credit card
deal, it’s worth checking out the market to see if you can get a
better deal. Complacency doesn’t pay, but a bit of awareness can
save you a lot.

About the Author: Max Hunter is the author of many credit
related articles. The current late payment charge by most
major issuers is between £20 - £25 ($30 - $40 US) and the have
been instructed to slash that down to £12 -£15 UK ($18 - $20
US).

The UK Office of Fair trading, who have been investigating
credit card charges for the last few months, stated "The OFT
considers that, in a consumer contract, a default charge is
likely to be disproportionately high if it is more than a
genuine pre-estimate of the damages that the card issuer would
win in court if it sued the cardholder for breach of contract,"
adding "The OFT's provisional view is that the levels of the
default charges imposed by the credit card companies need to be
reduced in order to be fair."

In the opinion of the OFT the current charges of between £20
and £25 excessive and possibly illegal and has given the card
issuers 3 months to respond.

Whilst the current ruling is provisional it is expected that
the final ruling will apply to all credit card issuers in the UK
and, if necessary, the OFT will take a test case to the UK
courts for a ruling forcing the banks to comply.

Once applied to credit cards the decision will also apply to
overdrafts, store cards and mortgages.

Estimates on what this will cost the banks vary from 400
million to 1 billion UKP - up to 50% of the profits earned on
credit cards. In recent results the big 5 banks in the UK
declared record overall profits of £33 billion, so they can
easily reduce these charges.

Matt Barrett, the former chief executive of Barclays, famously
once told MPs that he didn't use credit cards because they were
"too expensive". Whilst the ruling is intended to reduce costs
to customers it's likely that the banks will other find ways to
keep the costs high.

It is already clear that lenders are not great fans of interest
free balance transfers as most have applied a 2 - 3%
administrative charge. Expect this trend to continue and
possibly for the interest free transfers to disappear
altogether.

Expect an increase in the number of cards carrying an annual
fee and for the annual fee on current cards to increase. Further
adjustments could include the disappearance of cashback and a
reduction in free services, travel insurance, flights, holidays
and other promotions.

Though this ruling applies to the UK only, once it is enforced
card issuers around the World will be under pressure to follow
and countries with strong consumer protection legislation may
follow the OFT's lead.

This is therefore an ideal time to review your current credit
cards and take advantage of offers while they last.

If you have a credit card debt, which is rolled over each
month, take advantage now of the interest free offers currently
available. Read the small print, some carry a 2-3% charge, avoid
these as there are still a few interest free transfer offers
which do not have the administration charge.

If you repay your cards in full each month take a look at the
cards offering cashback and get a discount on your purchases
while it still exists.

If you have a balance which will take years rather than months
to repay look at the permanent low interest cards or even better
look at debt consolidation and move the debt to a low interest
loan or mortgage.

Credit cards are an expensive form of long term borrowing. This
ruling, whilst welcome, may herald the start of a restructuring
of credit cards and where they will end is very uncertain.

About the Author: John worked for many years in insurance and
finance and now writes on credit cards and debt management. Banks can – by accident or
design – make even the most simple information seem complicated
and through this unwittingly (or not) induce their customers to
go for products that might not be best suited to their needs.

Credit, charge, ATM and debit cards are not all alike. Although
you might think that they are basically the same thing – a way
of making payment for purchases or means of getting cash – they
are actually quite different. So as to use these cards wisely,
you should know what each one is and how it differs from the
others. Here’s some information to help you choose wisely.

Credit Cards

Credit cards can be a great way of paying for a purchase. They
are easy to apply for, easy to use, and flexible in their
repayment options. However, if you carry a balance, credit
cards can be like very expensive loans.

A credit card works like this: the credit card company supplies
you with a card; you use that card to pay for items and services
up to a certain total amount -- your credit ‘limit.’ The store
or service provider then collects what you owe from the card
issuer, whom you repay. You're then allowed to pay off as much
or almost as little as you like off the balance each month, so
long as you pay a minimum amount each time (usually 2.5 per
cent).

On the outstanding balance you’re charged interest (which can
be as high as 25% or more each year) at the end of each monthly
period, unless you pay the full balance each time your bill
arrives.

Credit cards are immensely profitable for issuers for a variety
of reasons. The high rate of interest yields issuing banks and
companies vast profits – in some cases the bulk of an
institution’s earnings. In addition to the interest, many
companies charge an annual membership fee for a credit card, as
well as a plethora of other charges, including late fees,
over-the-limit fees and other miscellaneous charges. Companies
also profit by charging stores a fee each time a customer uses
a credit card in their establishment.

There are three different types of credit card available:

Unsecured Credit Cards

These cards are commonly made available to those with good
credit history and credit score. These cards require no bank
deposit amounts to secure and usually have no annual fees and
low rate of interest.

Higher Risk Credit Cards

These cards are usually given to people who have a lower paying
job, and/or poor credit history and credit score. Often these
cards charge an activation fee, and also usually charge an
annual fee of up to $80.

Secured Credit Cards

These cards are given to people who have a lower paying job,
and/or a very poor credit history and credit score. Often these
cards require a deposit to be made to the lender, sometimes as
much as near or equal to the amount of credit available on the
card. If the borrower can prove their credit worthiness over
time, that credit limit is then upped. These cards also attract
a high annual fee of up to $100 and charge high rates of
interest.

Charge Cards

Charge cards (also known as travel and entertainment cards) are
slightly from credit cards. The most famous charge cards, such
as American Express and Diners Club, have an unlimited credit
limit. Normally you can charge as much as you like, but you are
required to pay off your balance in full when your bill arrives.

There’s one exception to this: If you charge air fare, cruise
fees or hotel charges booked through a travel agent on an
American Express card, you have an option to pay off your
balance over 36 months. There’s a sting in the tail, however:
you'll be charged around 20 per cent interest and will have to
make minimum monthly payments of $20.

The way charge card companies like American Express make their
profits is by charging very high annual fees – up to $100 – and
by hitting merchants with relatively high charges each time a
customer pays using their card.

If you don't pay your charge card bill in full (unless the
charges are travel expenses on an American Express card),
you'll get a one-month period of grace, when no interest is
charged. Beyond that, however, you'll be charged interest,
which weighs in at about 18 per cent. After about three months,
if your account is still not settled, your account will be
closed and your bill sent to the collections department.

Cash Advances

Some people use their credit or charge cards to obtain cash
advances. This can be an expensive way of accessing cash. Most
banks charge a transaction fee that can be as much as 4% for
taking a cash advance. Interest is also charged from the date
the cash advance is posted, even if it’s paid back in full when
your bill arrives. Moreover, the interest rate is usually higher
on cash advances than on ordinary credit card charges.

ATM & Debit Cards

ATM and debit cards offer most of the same functions as credit
and charge cards, but the crucial difference is that the money
comes out of your bank account straight away. If you don’t have
the money, you can’t buy the product.

For some people this is a preferable option: they like to keep
track of their outgoings, to keep tabs on what they’ve spent,
to avoid any sort of debt – no matter how brief.

There are disadvantages to using debit cards. It doesn’t give
you the option of up to a month to settle your statement. You
also don't have the right to withhold payment with a debit card
(the money is immediately removed from the account) in the event
of a dispute with the merchant over the goods or services paid
for. Some banks and merchants also charge transaction fees for
the use of debit cards.

About the Author: Max Hunter is the author of many credit
related articles. At this time, there
are two main aspects of credit card security for credit card
processing, including “AVS” and “CVV”. Both allow credit card
transactions to be completed anonymously over the internet, and
any merchant accepting credit cards online should require both
forms of information of your customers.

Address Verification Service

The “AVS”, or address verification service, is used to
determine that the address provided by a customer matches the
address associated with a credit card account. This helps
generate confidence that the person who is entering the credit
card details is the person who owns it. While the AVS is not
required to process credit card transactions, when it is
provided the transaction processor will send a response back
with details of how much of the address provided matches the
address on the credit card.

A credit card will not be denied if the address is entered
wrong, it is up to the merchant to decide what to do if the
address only matches partially or not at all. You can deny the
sale, or require the buyer submit additional information, or
give them the opportunity to correct the address information,
before processing the transaction.

Card Verification Value

The “CVV”, or card verification value, sometimes referred to as
the CVV-2 is a three to four digit number found on the back of
American Express, MasterCard and Visa cards. It’s on the card
but not on any statements, so that if an individual has found a
credit card statement in the trash, they aren’t able to complete
a sale that requires the CVV code for verification purposes.
When a customer is able to enter the CVV code, it’s a strong
indication that the customer has the credit card in hand, which
increases the potential of the card belonging to the person who
is attempting to use it to make a purchase online.

Most credit card fraud online occurs when a thief has found a
discarded receipt or a thrown out credit card statement, but by
requiring the CVV code, the merchant can eliminate that type of
fraud.

If a CVV number is entered and is incorrect, the transaction
will be declined by the credit card issuer.

Providing Consumers with Top Security

If you are going to accept credit cards online for payment for
products or services offered through your website, it’s
imperative that you provide your customers with a guarantee that
you’re protecting their credit card information.

Credit card processing typically requires that the customer’s
information is transferred about four times, which means there
are four instances when someone could gain access to the
cardholder’s details.
When a customer first sends the credit card information to you
via your checkout or web based form. You are solely responsible
for security as the internet merchant, at this stage in the
credit card transaction process. Having a secure server and a
valid security certificate with the https protocol will protect
and encrypt private information you receive from customers.

You will want to be sure that the credit card transaction
processing software you use for your business is secure by using
a reputable processing company.
As customer information is moved in and out of a database
through the transaction process, the security must be top of the
line- and this is ensured by choosing a solid company that
offers encrypted software for this part of the process.

Finally, when customer credit card information is viewed or
handled by you or your staff, it’s important that you ensure
security at this stage as well.

About the Author: This article has been provided courtesy of
Creditor Web, http://www.creditorweb.com .

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Machines

Credit Card Machine: What You Need to Know About
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ricky_Hidayat]Ricky Hidayat

A credit card terminal is a machine that read data stored in magnetic stripe on credit card and send it to merchant account.

Today there are different types of
credit card machines, and you can choose the one that is best
suited to your business needs.

The Wireless Credit Card Machine: For a mobile business, a
wireless credit card machine is the best option. The wireless
model is the most advanced credit card processing machine
available today, and also the most expensive one. It is
important to remember, however, that the area where you plan to
use the machine should have sufficient cellular coverage if you
decide to go the wireless route.

Credit Card Terminals That Can Handle Multiple Merchant
Accounts: Your business needs may require you to maintain
separate accounts for separate employees/service providers. For
such businesses, the multiple merchant accounts option is a
sensible one. The most commonly used credit card terminals that
can handle multiple merchant accounts include Nurit 2085, Nurit
3020, Nurit 3010, Nurit 8000, Omni 3750, Omni 3740, and the
Verifone Tranz 380x2.

The Terminal Without An Attached Printer: These machines
(without printers) are commonly used when mail ordering or
phone ordering is involved. When the business is run in a
mobile environment, and the credit card number is called in to
a central location where the number is keyed in, then too,
machines without printers are often used. Also, when your
business is a mobile one (landscaping, plumbing, locksmith),
yet the wireless machine is not feasible for you, then this
option is a very effective one. The printer-less credit card
machines are very cost-effective – prices can range from
$200.00 - $450.00 for a new machine, and $150.00 - $300.00 for
a refurbished unit. The Verifone Tranz 330 and Verifone Tranz
380 are two of the most popular machines in this category.

The Terminal With An Attached Printer: For your retail
business, this machine, which includes an integrated impact or
thermal printer, lets you issue a receipt to the customer at
the time of the sale. Also, in this category you can purchase
machines that have built in pinpads. It makes sense to have
this feature, because it lets you accept debit cards without
purchasing a separate pinpad. Though machines with integrated
printers are slightly more expensive that the credit card
processing machines that don't have attached printers, they are
priced reasonably. The price ranges from around $275 - $900,
depending on the model and features. The most widely used
terminals in this category include the Hypercom T7 Plus, the
Nurit 2085, and the Verifone Omni 3200se. If you are looking
for integrated pinpads in the machine (that let you process
debit cards without purchasing separate pinpads), you can
select from the Nurit 2085 Plus, Nurit 8320, and the Omni
3210se.

About the Author: Jake Atkinson recommends
http://www.merchantequip.com/creditcardmachines.php for more
information on credit card machines.

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Machines

Free Credit Card Processing
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva]Thomas Morva

It is difficult to run a successful e-commerce project without being able to make credit card transactions. Credit card processing involves many things, such as the verification of the consumer's credit card number, expiry date, and other data connected with credit cards.

If you are a beginner in business, free credit card processing services would be an ideal option for you. Unlike regular credit card processing, you don't have to pay for expensive credit card processing software, customer service fees, a secure server, minimum transaction fees, and monthly gateway fees when using free credit card processing.

Most free credit card processing companies charge only a nominal fee per transaction or a monthly percentage fee. Therefore, free processing helps you save a significant amount of money every month. However, this does not work well when merchant accounts are involved. Regular credit card processing involves the payment of a statement fee, a minimum fee, a discount fee, and a license fee, in addition to start-up fees.

If you opt to go with free credit card processing, it is advisable that you visit a credit processing firm to learn what kind of transactions are generally done in credit card processing. Third party credit card processing companies can be a good resource for those who are looking for a less expensive means to accept credit cards online. They normally offer free credit card processing services. Their merchant account doesn?t charge any fee for many transactions, including phone, fax, retail, mail, Internet, or wireless businesses.

Lots of free credit card processing companies do not entail creating your own merchant account. Today, many online businesses make use of free credit card processing. They include CCBill, iBill, V-Share, and ShareIt. Reviewing and processing of a paper-based credit card application normally takes less than one week. But an online application is processed in less than two minutes. Once sanctioned, it normally takes a week to 10 days to obtain your credit card. It is important to note that there are application processing fees.

A credit card application processing system is tailored to meet the needs of your application processing requirements. There are manual and automated application processing systems. Many banks and financial agencies use manual solutions for handling the application, billing, payment and other functions. But the manual processing has some disadvantages such as extended application turnaround time, nonsystematic means of credit decisions, and inconsistent credit limit.

Automated systems are designed to automate the basic application processing and sanction process for the credit card business. Several software packages are available for automated processing services. Their common characteristics of automated processing include handling of paper-based or web-based applications, data capture and validation, exporting of data onto credit scoring platforms, archiving and storage of applications, safe online review and approval processes, and a mailroom facility for accepting, de-enveloping and sorting applications.

Credit card applications are available on the Internet. Many sales executives also provide them. Filling out an application is not a difficult task. You just need to complete several fields for which you already know the details such as name, address, annual income, occupation, etc. If you fill out all the required information, then there is no chance of rejecting the application by the issuer.

The credit rating is the most significant part of the application processing. A credit rating is maintained by the credit card bureaus, and it depends on the information received from various credit issuers over a period of time. A bad rating results in the rejection of the credit card application. This is because many consumers make their purchases using their credit cards, and establishments who do not accept credit card payments risks losing potential sales. Given this, it is then essential for any company that intends to sell products in the market to make sure that their stores can accept credit payments. There’s good news, though! Today, accepting credit cards is usually a fairly easy process because companies can gain access to the tools that they need to be able to process credit card payments from a number of sources.

Setting up a merchant account

The first step in accepting credit cards is setting up a merchant account. This will involve locating the right merchant account provider or credit card processor. Many businesses do this through the banks where they do their business banking. However, not all banks provide credit card processing services.

A good source of information is any trade associations that a business belongs to, which may have negotiated rates with a certain credit card processor that the business could contact. Another good source of leads is from other businesses that already accept credit card payments. On the other hand, given that most processors aggressively pursue clients especially start up companies, it is most likely that these processors will contact new business owners and offer them their services.

In deciding on which credit card processor to use, it is a good idea to employ canvassing strategies, which includes interviewing each credit processor and asking them questions that can help business owners pick the right processor. Some of these questions include asking them about their fees, their rates, and other services that they provide their clients. After which, business owners then should analyze which processor can give them the best deal for the credit card processing services that they are offering.

Nowadays, no business establishment should be without credit card processing capabilities. This is because given that most people make many of their purchases using their credit cards, establishments that do not accept credit card payments risk losing a significant number of sales.

The good news is that today, the tools that businesses need to be able to accept credit card payments, which includes merchant accounts, are easily accessible, as there are a large number of companies that provide credit card processing services. When a business starts out, they are often met with a barrage of telemarketers and companies offering to help them to accept credit cards. Because of the new business owner's extremely busy schedule and lack of knowledge regarding the credit card processing industry, owners are often convinced that leasing a credit card terminal is the best solution for their business.

In reality, leasing a credit card machine is far from the best interest. For most businesses, a simple swipe and print credit card machine is a perfectly acceptable method of accepting credit cards. What many new business owners fail to do, is investigate the actual price of a new credit card machine. What they would find is that the outright purchase of a credit card terminal is often a completely reasonably priced purchase, and usually is many times less costly than a lease. What would cost them two to three hundred dollars to own, can cost them thousands of dollars to lease. Money is very tight, especially during the startup phase of a business, and the extra money spent on leasing a credit card machine is most definitely better suited elsewhere.

Leasing credit card equipment became a standard in the eighties and early nineties, when the lack of consumer knowledge and a growing processing industry led to the portrayal of high priced processing equipment. During this time fifty dollar per month leases were not uncommon. Since the creation of the internet, consumers have access to a vast amount of information. Processing companies can no longer easily inflate the costs of processing equipment. Now, new business owners are virtually the only group susceptible to getting scammed into a lease. This is due mainly to time constraints and a lack of research on their part.

Leases do still play a role in obtaining credit card equipment, but should only be considered when the required equipment is very high priced. Wireless terminals, while becoming more affordable, can still be a considerable investment. Wireless terminals can still cost over a thousand dollars to purchase which is definitely a significant amount of money. Leasing a wireless terminal can alleviate some of this cost, but business owners should still be aware that they will pay more than the cost of the terminal in the end.

Leases also often come with strings attached, or more appropriately a web of strings attached. Lease commonly last for thirty six to forty eight months, but can be in any increment from twelve months up to forty eight. The shorter the lease, the higher the monthly payment. Leases are also normally non cancel-able for the duration of the lease. There may be considerable penalties for canceling a lease before its term is up. Leases are not always for ownership of the equipment, and hefty buyout fees can occur at the end of the lease. Some leases start over at the end of their term, and the business only has a short window to opt out of the lease. Businesses should be aware of the terms governing the lease before they even contemplate signing it. Signing a lease without fully understanding what is involved in it and fully calculating the cost of the lease can be an extremely expensive mistake.

Enter your lease information into the lease [http://www.merchantaccountblog.com/tools/credit-card-equipment-lease-calculator/]cost calculator to find out how much extra leasing will cost you compared to purchasing.

Copyright 2006 Jamie Estep, The Merchant Account Blog.

Jamie Estep runs the website: ( [http://www.merchantaccountblog.com]The Merchant Account Blog) and offers information and advice on topics relating to credit card processing. Horror stories of over limit charges, finance charges, late fees, mysterious charges, telemarketers, and missing bills dance through your head like sugar plumb fairies in children on Christmas Eve. It’s important to know, going into your first, or even your fifth credit card experience, that as a credit card holder, you have certain rights that go along with your responsibilities.

Here’s a rundown of some your credit card rights:

Prompt Credit for Payment:

Your creditor is required to post payment received within twenty four hours of receiving it. In order to insure that this system goes smoothly from your end, make sure that you make yourself familiar with the payment procedures for your card.

Refunds of Credit Balances:

If you overpay your credit card bill, that is the total amount, not a specific monthly bill, you have a right to receive a credit on your account. You can also request that the credit card issuer send you a refund of the over-paid balance. This only applies if you have completely paid off the total amount, and have issued additional payment. It does not apply to an overpayment of a monthly minimum. If you overpay your balance, your creditor will automatically credit your account the additional funds, which you will not be required to re-pay, as it is your money. However, if you submit written request for a refund of the balance, they must issue you a refund within seven days of receipt of your request.

Resolution of Errors:

If you feel as though there is an error on your billing statement, you must submit a written complaint within sixty days of the error's occurrence. An investigation must follow within two billing cycles, and no later than ninety days of receiving the complaint. This is federal law, and for more information you can contact the Federal Trade Commission.

Removal of Unauthorized Charges:

If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately. Following a lost or stolen report, the cardholder is not liable for any charges. If you find fraudulent charges on your account, you can be held accountable for up to fifty dollars per card. However, fifty dollars is the most you will owe for unauthorized charges, even if the thief uses your card to access an ATM machine. The best way to avoid any payments on your behalf for stolen goods is to report a missing or stolen card as soon as you discover it missing. This way, the company will cancel the card and you will not be held responsible for any charges.

It is best, going into any new experience, to understand your rights and responsibilities. Over the past few years I have tried just about every possible system out there to make money online, from using EBay to actually trying to create my own product. The results? Nada, nothing, zilch! Thousands of dollars latter I found myself just giving up. I received enough information to make my eyes bleed and head throb. I subscribed to so many guru lists that I was forced to create alternate email addresses just to get rid of all the spam.

Every new product that came out generated hundreds of emails to me from dozens of so-called experts selling it to me. I took me a little while to realize that the only people making the money were the guys that took other peoples info, repackaged it and sold it to idiots like me! Can you say tech dummy? That is me in a nutshell. I am a banker, accountant, and mortgage loan officer. I am also a dreamer like you. I want the best that life offers. Give me the tools to achieve my dreams and I will run with them. I have absolutely no ability to absorb all of the tricks, techniques and ideas sent to me. It is all just over my head.

I have never been one to give up, so I began to focus on just one area. Affiliate Marketing became my vehicle to creating wealth. I signed up with click bank and joined over 30 different programs. I made a few dollars but realized that I was not capturing the information that I needed to build a long term income stream. Short term profits were okay, but they did not last and required constant work to maintain. By sending my customers to an affiliate product web site, I was basically giving them my customers forever. I was missing the opportunity to market other products to them in the future.

Eventually I stumbled upon an amazing internet marketer, who seemed to be able to focus his teachings like a laser beam into my brain. He recommended a product that had all of the elements I needed. The name of the program is Simple Money Machines. Simple Money Machines may not be what you need if you are a total technology nerd. If you are tech savvy, like me, then this could be your ticket to financial freedom!

Simple Money Machines is a new platform that allows someone with no technological abilities what-so-ever to set up a complete online business. You do not need to host an account, no software to purchase and learn, no worrying about back ups and no expensive testing required. Simple Money Machines does it all.

Here is a little bit of what Simple Money Machines includes

Web site creation using WYSIWYG for either an affiliate marketing site or an e-book marketing site

Auto-responder so that you can capture email addresses, build your own list and send future promotions. This is critical to your success. The key to developing a long-term internet income is in the list. Every large marketer online has one and use it to generate future sales. The auto-responder feature is used to send periodic emails to your customers. You determine what to send and when to send it.

Headline generator to create effective headlines

Web page video to increase conversions

Web page audio. You can create a message to your prospects using your home phone

Split-testing: Allows you to track conversions of different versions of your site

Opt-in Page also known as a Squeeze Page. It is an excellent way to develop an email list and it provides you with the ability to offer a bonus to your subscribers just for looking at your site

Traffic tracking software that lets you analyze the source and costs of different traffic options

Credit card processing and tracking

Simple Money Machines is unlike any other business-in-a-box program. The primary purpose of the program is to promote the affiliate programs YOU are excited about. You can use it to market your own e-book product. It lets you focus on the Marketing, and not on the programming. You can be up and running in under 1 hour. My first site was running thirty minutes after I joined the program. The program comes with a wonderful manual to guide you step by step on what to do.

You can sign up for the program for $ 1.00 for a 2 week trial. The trial will give you the ability to create up to five individual web sites promoting anything you want!

$ 1.00! There is absolutely no risk.

So there you have it. It is now up to you to drive the traffic to your new website. That is actually the easiest part. The internet is filled with tried and true methods to drive traffic such as pay-per-click, ezine article submissions, or any creative method you can devise.

Are you ready? Congratulations! You are now in business for yourself!

Anthony Fontana has been a banker and tax accountant for almost 30 years. The monthly merchant fees associated with accepting credit cards can be costly whether you make sales or not, when using a bank for your merchant account/credit card processor. If you have ever filed bankruptcy or have bad credit, getting a merchant account with a bank is nearly impossible. So what do you do?

The answer is simple: get Pay Pal merchant account. Pay Pal is by far the most widely recognized online processor for e-commerce transactions and is the primary processor for Ebay sales. While there are other online credit processors like Click Bank and others, Pay Pal overshadows them all.

The nice thing about Pay Pal is the sheer volume of people that have Pay pal accounts set up for Ebay who do cruise and shop the Internet. Pay pal, while not flawless, uses 128 but encryption offering the highest level of online security for both buyers and sellers. The seamless integration of the pay pal e-commerce function allows people to conduct transactions over a secure server right at your site without leaving. A number of automated tools provide for redirection anywhere you want the customer to go on your site after they complete their purchase. It is simply the fastest and easiest way to get your e-commerce site up and running quickly and easily.

We chose Pay Pal for our site because it was the most cost affordable solution to accepting payments from our customers with the highest level of security for both them and us. After comparing the cost of a traditional merchant account with a bank including monthly fees, activity fees, transaction fees, terminal fees, online fees, etc, it was a no-brainer to go with Pay Pal. Why? Well, the service is as good, if not better and there is NO cost UNTIL a purchase is completed—and then the transaction fee is like 2.5% or so of the transaction which is a really affordable and easy solution to a complicated problem for some.

If you are interested in seeing how the Pay Pal system functions, you can visit our site by clicking the link below, go to the product page and click on any BUY NOW button shown. You don’t have to complete the purchase but it will give you a good demonstration of the seamless quality of Pay Pal. Keep in mind that I am neither trying to hump product and I do not have any affiliation with Pay Pal. I am simply passing our experience with the system to you.

Another thing new webmasters should consider is that making online sales is tough unless you are doing a substantial amount of advertising and marketing to drive traffic to your website. It makes no sense whatsoever to pay monthly fees to a bank until your site traffic and sales justify doing so and even then, the need for a bank is questionable. If you are moving say, 1000 units a month, then you may want to consider a bank for volumes of transactions and record keeping, auditing, etc. If not, Pay Pal is the answer. Screw the banks—they are doing nothing more than Pay Pal is and it requires a whole lot more site engineering to install their e-commerce function on your site.

To your unwavering success!

Copyright © 2006 James W. Credit cards are the most common method of payment by customers today in all types of stores, particularly retail and restaurant. Because of this, it is vital that your business is up to date with a quality credit card terminal. There are several basic forms of terminals, but they all fall under three different categories.

The first kind of credit card terminal is the traditional terminal. The most basic traditional terminal includes a magnetic stripe reader, a keypad to enter prices and other information, and a small display. Each terminal has its own display style, which allows you to pick and choose to meet your needs. The larger the display, the easier it will be for you to see the display. Another feature that is common amongst most new traditional terminals is a backlit display, which allows you to see the display in low light settings.

There are two different kinds of printers you can choose from for your traditional terminal, a built-in printer or a separate unit. It is often easier to handle one machine altogether, making the built-in printer more popular. However, the main thing to consider with the printer is its price, speed and reliability.

The next kind of credit card terminal is the wireless terminal. Wireless terminals are very convenient for businesses with temporary locations, taxi drivers and large lot businesses because of its ability to be moved. However, you should really think about whether it is a necessity to have a wireless terminal, because they are more expensive.

Other things that should be considered when selecting a wireless terminal include battery life, the range of the terminal, weight, and its shock resistance. The shock resistance is vital because you have to assume that any terminal you purchase will be dropped from time to time.

The last kind of credit card terminal is virtual terminals. If you are looking for a terminal to use for over the phone or an internet business, this is the kind for you. This allows you to have a terminal without actually having a physical terminal in your presence. Your merchant account that is required should be able to provide you with the necessary software to handle the transactions. All you have to do is type in the credit card number and the software will handle the authorization for you.

While there are several different models and forms of credit card terminals to choose from, they all fall under the three categories mentioned above. The most pricy terminals are going to be the wireless terminal and virtual terminal, but the traditional terminal has its benefits as well. Make sure to do the necessary research to find the best credit card terminal for your business.

Copyright (c) 2007 Jim Saka

Article Source: http://www.ApprovedArticles.com

For more information about Jim Saka or to find out how your business can can benefit from accepting credit cards online or at a place of business visit United Bank Card's merchant account services websites.

Credit Card Machines

A Quick Guide to Credit Card Machines
09th May 2006
Author: Jake Atkinson

We've come a long way since the first credit card machine was launched in the market. Today there are different types of credit card machines, and you can choose the one that is best suited to your business needs.

The Wireless Credit Card Machine: For a mobile business, a wireless credit card machine is the best option. The wireless model is the most advanced credit card processing machine available today, and also the most expensive one. It is important to remember, however, that the area where you plan to use the machine should have sufficient cellular coverage if you decide to go the wireless route.

Credit Card Terminals That Can Handle Multiple Merchant Accounts: Your business needs may require you to maintain separate accounts for separate employees/service providers. For such businesses, the multiple merchant accounts option is a sensible one. The most commonly used credit card terminals that can handle multiple merchant accounts include Nurit 2085, Nurit 3020, Nurit 3010, Nurit 8000, Omni 3750, Omni 3740, and the Verifone Tranz 380x2.

The Terminal Without An Attached Printer: These machines (without printers) are commonly used when mail ordering or phone ordering is involved. When the business is run in a mobile environment, and the credit card number is called in to a central location where the number is keyed in, then too, machines without printers are often used. Also, when your business is a mobile one (landscaping, plumbing, locksmith), yet the wireless machine is not feasible for you, then this option is a very effective one. The printer-less credit card machines are very cost-effective ? prices can range from $200.00 - $450.00 for a new machine, and $150.00 - $300.00 for a refurbished unit. The Verifone Tranz 330 and Verifone Tranz 380 are two of the most popular machines in this category.

The Terminal With An Attached Printer: For your retail business, this machine, which includes an integrated impact or thermal printer, lets you issue a receipt to the customer at the time of the sale. Also, in this category you can purchase machines that have built in pinpads. It makes sense to have this feature, because it lets you accept debit cards without purchasing a separate pinpad. Though machines with integrated printers are slightly more expensive that the credit card processing machines that don't have attached printers, they are priced reasonably. The price ranges from around $275 - $900, depending on the model and features. The most widely used terminals in this category include the Hypercom T7 Plus, the Nurit 2085, and the Verifone Omni 3200se. If you are looking for integrated pinpads in the machine (that let you process debit cards without purchasing separate pinpads), you can select from the Nurit 2085 Plus, Nurit 8320, and the Omni 3210se.

Jake Atkinson recommends MerchantEquip for more information on credit card machines.
This article is free for republishing
Source: http://www.a1articles.com/article_51258_19.html

Credit Card Machines

DEVELOPING AN ONLINE BUSINESS QUICKLY by ANTHONY F FONTANA

If you are interested in developing a serious income online, but you lack the skill set necessary to do so, then I may have a solution for you.

This is a growing trend as there are many benefits to employers and employees alike. Direct deposit involves a series of steps that culminates in the employee receiving wages electronically into their bank account, whether they are paid on an hourly basis or salaried.

For the staffing industry in particular, this trend poses a significant potential for savings as the volume of payroll checks for external staff is far greater than that of internal staff. For example, a staffing firm with 20 staff members may employ as many as 500 to 1,000 temporary employees per pay period. The costs associated with paying this many employees is on par with much larger organizations outside the staffing industry who, like you, strive to provide superior service at a minimal cost. By providing direct deposit to your employees, you will experience dramatic savings as well as improve relations with your employees by providing this valuable benefit.

Background on the Market

Over the past eight to ten years, we have all had experiences with either pre-paid telephone cards, gift cards or the omnipresent debit cards. These are all convenient ways to store money that can be utilized either by a specific individual or by the person possessing the card. More recently, the concept of payroll cards has been introduced as an alternative way to provide payroll funds to individuals. These cards are a fairly basic concept that may sound familiar. Load an employee's payroll funds onto a card that can then either be withdrawn from an automated teller machine (ATM) or used to purchase goods and/or services up to the amount associated with the card, just like a debit card. The card, once all funds have been used, can either be re-loaded with funds or discarded. Therefore, instead of an employee receiving a paycheck they receive payroll funds in an account via direct deposit and they are able to retrieve their funds through their payroll card.

The issuance of payroll cards to employees is not completely new. The U.S. government, for example, maintains several contracts among the four branches of the military to provide an efficient, electronic means of distributing funds to service men and women. This is particularly helpful when those employees are overseas or aboard ships where access to banks is limited or non-existent. By providing an electronic means of distributing funds, this eliminates the need for currency, coins, vouchers, money orders, etc.

In addition to the convenience of use, payroll cards offer an added level of security. Typically, the cards use a multilayered integrated chip, which controls access to the funds. The chip is programmed with a user key or personal identification number (PIN). Funds cannot be distributed without the use of the PIN, which only the cardholder knows.

From a much larger perspective, there are about 50 to 60 million people within the U.S. who do not have a traditional bank account. Many of these same individuals do not have credit cards either. We live in a culture that revolves around transactions; transactions that are, by design, quick and convenient. Individuals without a traditional bank account are unable to participate in a large amount of transactions such as general eCommerce, point-of-sale transactions, electronic payment to creditors, etc. Basically, anything where cash is not either accepted or a viable option is simply not available to these individuals. More importantly, individuals who do not possess a bank account are unable to participate in traditional direct deposit offerings.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, there are approximately 20 million users of these types of cards and that number is expected to increase to more that 49 million by 2008. Obviously, the trend towards a greater level of acceptance is growing. In 2003, these types of cards were used to make $42 billion in transactions. By 2006, more than $72 billion worth of transactions are expected. Experts have indicated that the industry is in the introductory stage of its life cycle, which suggests that there is still substantial growth potential in the near future.

Problems and Solutions

Currently, you may be offering a direct deposit solution for your employees. Direct deposit is a method of payment to your employees which electronically credits their checking or savings account or possibly both. This is a service that you may provide as a benefit to your employees who have been with you for a defined period of time. Even though it may be a benefit to your employees, it also provides a tremendous benefit to your organization. The benefits of such an offering include decreased processing time for payroll, increased security as the funds go directly into an account, reduced fees for stop payment of checks, no lost checks, decreased employee payroll issues, etc. According to the American Payroll Association (APA), these savings equate to approximately $2.00 per contingent employee per pay period.

Many firms have the desire to move towards a greater level of employee participation in direct deposit since the efficiencies are proven and dramatic. The reasons for both employee and employer to find value are obvious. But sometimes just encouraging the idea with your employees is simply not good enough. In many cases, it needs to be a policy of education and commitment to increase participation. However, this is assuming that all of your employees can participate in direct deposit. That may not be the case; take those employees who do not have a checking or savings account, regardless of education or policy, these employees cannot participate.

One new solution for firms desiring to increase employee participation in direct deposit is what is commonly referred to as Payroll cards. A Payroll Card is, in essence, just like direct deposit as funds are electronically deposited into an account that the employee can access. The major differentiator is that payroll cards can accommodate those employees who do not have bank accounts.

Major Benefits of Payroll Cards

For Employees:

Funds are immediately available in account

No approval needed; everyone is qualified

No check cashing fees

No waiting in lines to cash checks

PIN protected; which provides added security

Purchasing power through POS vendors

No lost checks

ATM withdrawal

No need to carry cash on hand

Funds are FDIC insured

Transfer funds

Pay bills online

For Staffing Company Employers:

Decrease cost of distribution of checks

Fills gap in direct deposit participation

Increases efficiency of payroll

Decreases potential check fraud and lost checks

Eliminates stop payment fees for lost or stolen checks

Timely payroll even when employees are away

Provides major benefit at minimal cost

Improves employee loyalty

Challenges for the 'un-banked' provide opportunities for better service

There are not many categories that you can split your employees into easily; however, one thing is true…either your employees have a bank account or they do not. Those employees that have a bank account are commonly referred to as 'banked' and those that do not have a bank account are referred to as 'un-banked' or 'self-banked.' For banked employees, in most cases, their bank will accept direct deposit of funds. It saves their financial institution money just as it saves your organization money.

Un-banked employees face many obstacles in managing their payroll checks. Simply cashing their checks may induce charges such as check cashing fees from the bank issuing the check or check cashing services. Many banks are now charging a $5 per check cashing fee to non-customers in an effort to decrease their operating costs and minimize teller transactions. The other option is to use a check cashing service, which may charge from two percent to seven percent or more. That translates to $5 to $17 a week for a $250 check. Both of these options are drawing significant fees just for the purpose of turning electronic funds into cash.

While for some this may be something worth paying for, it may be a major penalty to others who desire a different way of managing their money other than carrying cash around. On the employer side of the equation, there are significant costs as well. The cost can be associated with several aspects of administrative duties, including processing time of payroll, lost checks and their associated costs, etc. From the perspective of the employer's potential savings, there was a study conducted in 1999 by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA), which indicated that an employer would save an average of $48 per year per employee by eliminating the process of generating paper paychecks.

From another perspective, there are many individuals that may have a bank account but may not have a credit card or, if they do possess a credit card it may be so close to the limit that making a transaction is not possible. Among individuals in the U.S. with credit cards, more than 40 percent are within five percent of their credit limit. That means that the credit provided by the card for a transaction has been basically exhausted. The credit card is then working like a debit card since the user must pay down the limit on the card in order to make a transaction. Making larger purchases requires a good credit score. Simply possessing a bank account does not necessarily improve a credit rating.

The credit-challenged need the opportunity to improve their credit scores. Tom Miezejeski, Vice President of Research for The PELORUS Group has indicated, "due to this situation, a possibility exists for a major shift from credit to debit cards. The potential intensifies when one takes into account the recent settlement by Visa® and MasterCard® with regard to processing debit card transactions, which could encourage retailers to promote debit cards at the expense of credit cards, thereby actually eroding the number of credit cards issued annually."

Understanding Payroll Card Options: SVC's or Bank Cards

In order for employees to participate in our growing, non-cash, transaction-based society and for employers to capitalize on these trends, there needs to be an option that will allow them to leverage the flexibility of electronic fund distribution. Payroll cards address this need head-on for both employees and employers.

There are a couple of offerings from vendors when it comes to payroll cards. The two main offerings can be categorized as either stored value cards (SVCs) or bank cards.

First, let's explore a stored value card. Just as it sounds, it holds a stored value of funds that has been associated with the card. Once loaded, or associated with a pre-determined dollar value, the card can be used to make withdrawals from ATMs. To better understand this option, let's look at the setup. The employer sets up one major account with the bank and each employee has access to what is referred to as a sub-account under that one major account.

With SVCs, the employer directs funds through the major account and each sub-account, and then maintains the balance for each individual employee. The employee does not actually own the sub-account; they only withdraw funds from that account. The employee is not able to participate in point-of-sale or retail transactions as one would with a true debit card or bankcard. Although the major account is FDIC insured, the sub-accounts are not individually insured. For example, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insures deposits up to $100,000.00. That means that if there are 100 sub-accounts for the one major account, each one is only insured for $1,000.00. The employee does not have much protection in the event the issuing or sponsoring bank fails. Also, most SVCs do not provide protections under Regulation E, which provides provisions for fund replacement in the event of lost or stolen cards. VISA branded cards, i.e. bank cards, and offer zero-liability policies.

Bank cards are similar to SVCs in that each is loaded with a pre-determined dollar value and can be used for withdrawals from ATMs. There are, however, dramatic differences between these two types of cards. First, with a bank card the employee is able to participate in any point-of-sale or retail transaction as one would with a true debit card or bank card. Second, the employer sets up an actual account with the bank for each employee who then has access to the account itself whereas with a SVC, the employee is accessing a sub-account under a major account. The employer is responsible for directing funds to the individual account. Third, the employee actually owns the account and is able to build a credit history based on their use of the account which may lead to a greater level of financial independence. Finally, the individual account deposit is FDIC insured up to $100,000.00 and the employee can enjoy the protections issued under Regulation E.

Conclusion: Better participation equals better service at lower cost.

If your organization would like to increase employees' participation in direct deposit, the employees that do not have a bank account have traditionally not been able to participate. The un-banked employees now have an offering that will enable them to leverage the benefits of direct deposit. By providing a payroll card offering, these employees will be able to help your organization increase the percentage of participation in direct deposit. If you wish to encourage your employees (banked and un-banked) to participate in direct deposit, it is a matter of educating them on how to accomplish this and explaining the benefits in a way they can appreciate and understand.

For more information regarding VCG, or our WebPAS and StaffSuite products, visit http://www.vcgsoftware.com or call 800-318-4983.

About VCG, Inc.

Our focus is your success. So many people now use credit cards for buying and selling that a credit card terminal is almost necessary. Without a terminal you can stand to lose profits if you are not careful.

Technology that is now available in regards to cards and having a credit card terminal is part of what can bring success to businesses. If you do order a terminal you will find that there are willing people to help you to install it just by dialing the telephone. They will walk you through every single step and even help you figure out how exactly to use it. Just remember any hassle that seems to come from having a terminal can be balanced out by more sales be created by its instillation.

There is the option of either buying a terminal straight out or leasing it from a licensed dealer and this can offer more options and convenience. Even if you are a brand new business just starting you can find a dealer who would be more than willing to rent you a terminal, it just takes a little legwork to find it. In the end it can only make your business stronger and more successful.

Of course your customers should be aware that there might be some small fees when it comes to terminals. It's just the
way things work in the world of consumer credit. Lenders are
very leery about lending money to anyone without a history of
being able to repay the debt. They have no way of knowing if
you are a good risk or a bad risk.

So what's someone in this situation to do? You can't get a
rental car, stay in a hotel or shop online without a credit
card. So let's look at a few of the options that can help you
establish credit.

Some of the credit options

Think small. While most of the major credit card companies will
not give you credit without a prior credit history, some smaller
ones such as department stores may give you credit. Another
place to try is the gas station credit cards. Apply for several
gas and department store credit cards. If you are lucky enough
to get one, make sure you use it, but more importantly, make
sure you make your payments timely. Your goal is to establish a
credit history, not run up a huge credit card bill.

Also try and find a credit card company that will look at your
overall financial picture and not focus solely on your credit
history or lack of it. Some may also consider your employment
situation, how often you have moved. If you score well in these
areas they may approve your credit application.

Secured Credit Cards

Secured credit cards are offered by lenders who will give you a
line of credit that either matches, or is slightly higher than,
a cash deposit that you give them to hold. As your experience
with the card grows, these lenders will often raise your limit
without requiring you to increase your deposit. Eventually, you
can use your experience with this lender to apply for cards that
are not secured.

Student Credit Cards

If you are a student, then you'll be best off with a student
credit card. Student credit cards can be a great way of
building the credit history that you will need to depend upon
after graduation. The important thing here is to remember to
use that opportunity wisely. Many banks will issue college
students a credit card, especially banks that are located in
college or university cities and towns.

When the time comes that you finally get your first credit
card, use it, but use it carefully, and most of all, make
certain you pay your bill on time.

About the Author: This article courtesy of http://ptgnet.com

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Machines

Avoiding Credit Card Traps
By James Dimmitt

The next time you open your credit card statement, take a
closer look at the small insert titled “changes to your credit
card agreement”. You know the one I’m speaking about. It’s
that small, folded paper written in legalese that you promise
to read some other time (but of course that time never comes)
or you just discard it with the other “junk” inserts.

First and foremost you must understand that using your credit
card after you’ve received this notification results in your
automatic “agreement” to the new terms in the notice. To
prevent these new terms from affecting your account you must
stop using that credit card immediately or by the date given in
the notification statement.

The most common modifications to credit card agreements include
new APR’s (annual percentage rates), new fees and/or changes to
existing fees, or a change to the grace period on your account.
The grace period is the number of days during which any credit
used for purchases may be repaid in full without incurring a
finance charge.

Not knowing or not keeping track of the dollar amount limit on
your card is another trap you should avoid. Credit card
issuers will allow you to charge a small amount over the limit
set on your account. However, don’t be surprised when you get
hit with an “over limit fee”, usually around $35.00 or higher,
on your next statement. Also, be prepared for your APR to be
increased if you go over your credit limit.

You’ll also trigger an increase to your interest rate if you
miss your payment due date. Some companies consider your
payment late if not received by noon or 1 p.m. on the date due.

Along with the higher rate, you’ll also pay a “late fee” of $29
on up. Be sure to use the company’s preprinted envelope when
sending your payment. These envelopes allow the pre-printed
bar code to be scanned by the post office so that it can be
delivered more efficiently.

If you’ve counted on those few extra days from the time you
mail your check and the time the check clears your bank,
beware! Many credit card issuers have switched from the
traditional method of processing checks to a new electronic
process. This new system shaves off a day or more from the
traditional method it normally takes for your check to clear by
electronically debiting your account.

If you’re considering paying your credit card bills online,
check to see if any additional fees will be charged for using
this type of payment. I recently received an e-mail message
from one of my credit card companies announcing how easy it
would be to make my payments online. Included in fine print at
the bottom of the e-mail was this note - “A fee of up to $14.95
may be charged for this service and will be deducted from your
checking account”. Hmmm, spend 37 cents on postage and mail my
payment five days before the due date or pay now and get charged
an additional $14.95 fee? I’ll bet you can guess which choice I
made.

Taking the time to carefully read and understand your credit
card agreement now will help you save money by avoiding
unnecessary fees or climbing interest rates later down the
road.

About the Author: © 2005,
http://www.yourfreecreditreportnow.com Author: James H. This type of payment permits you to attract both impulsive buyers and casual surfers alike. It also guarantees that you get timely payment.

Electronic credit card processing facilities handle orders directly through the Internet. This is normally a complex deal that needs the coordination of many things such as your website, your consumer?s credit card company, a payment gateway, and an account into which credits are deposited. Electronic card processing is safe and secure, and it provides the best customer service.

Three major types of electronic credit card processing are available. The first type uses a virtual machine that allows manual addition of mail. The second type involves a simple integration technique that links your site directly to the credit card and bank system. The third type uses a means for custom-linking your system to other more complex systems using a transaction gateway server.

Credit cards can be processed either in real-time or in a collective manner (batch processing). Electronic credit card processing generally has excellent real-time processing speed. The business is processed instantly and the consumer knows whether or not his card is accepted. But real-time processing has greater risk of fraud, since anybody can use a stolen card before it is reported stolen. Another disadvantage is that you cannot accept any order when the electronic credit card processor's server fails. Batch processing is ideal for smaller businesses. Here, many credit card transactions are processed jointly at a later time. The risk of fraud is moderately low.

Today, many companies offer fast, reliable and safe electronic credit card processing services. Each will work with almost all major credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. Credit Card Processing is affiliated with Wireless Credit Card Terminals.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva
http://EzineArticles.com/?Electronic-Credit-Card-Processing&id=353154

Credit Card Machines

Update Your Computer System With Bad Credit Computer Financing
By Amanda Thompson

The moment I placed myself in front of the computer screen a whole new world beckoned me to join it. And years of strolling have proved incompetent to get me acquainted with the full panorama of computers. You have always wanted one in your home. But something is stopping you. Bad credit? Do I hear bad credit? You think bad credit can stop you from getting your computer financed. Which world are you living in? You certainly need a computer. Before providing you with finance for your computer, the loan lender will probably check your credit activities, to rule out any bad credit details. Credit score will be extracted out of your credit report. Your credit score is not good, that you already know. Otherwise you would not have been reading this article. Bad credit computer financing entails that at least you have installed credit through a bank account or credit card company. In the no credit specimen, no credit you have never owned a credit card or ever inaugurated a bank account. This is altogether an entirely different struggle. Some argue that it is better to have no credit instead of bad credit while contemplating computer financing. But the fact is, in order to establish yourself as a reliable borrower you at least need to have credit. And this can’t be done unless you establish a credit.

The facilities that come with bad credit computer financing are a conscientious recompense. Nowadays, you won’t have to fly
halfway around the world or drive across town to purchase
authentic gifts for a loved one. Instead, you can just order it
online at home. Your gift will be wrapped and delivered right to
your door step. All you need is a secure connection, a working
credit card account and a little understanding of how to manage
an online account.

In fact, if you find it hard to keep your bills in order or
can’t find the time to drop in at the bank, then having an
online credit card account is the best way to solve your
problems. With this, you can actually manage all your finances
without you ever leaving your office, or even your desk. You
can make instant payments on the spot, check past transactions
easily and immediately print statements that would regularly
take weeks to get to your mailbox.

With all this convenience, anyone is bound to worry about the
security of having an online credit card account. If you are
able to access your account with your name, ID or a simple
password, it is possible for a thief who has the right
combination of these elements to access to your account. Thus,
it is important that you do not give out your personal
information to strangers or even callers over the phone.

Also, before you enter any sensitive information on your
browser, ensure that your browser is a secured browser that
utilizes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that encrypts data before
transmitting it to the server. Most banking websites utilize
secured web pages indicated by a locked padlock sign at the
bottom of the browser. Naturally, credit card users are advised
to not make financial transactions over public computers. Online
access can be a godsend to most of us who lead a busy lifestyle
but if we are not careful, we may lose our finances and
property to thieving scoundrels at the click of a mouse.

About the Author: Adam Goldman recommends Find Credit Cards for
finding a Visa card application. The use of credit cards is growing exponentially fueled by the growth of e-commerce and the increasing usage of credit cards in business-to-business transactions. Accepting credit cards in a business has many advantages. Not only will it help expand your consumer base, it will also provide an easier and more convenient alternative to paying by cash or check. When you accept credit cards, funds can be transferred to your bank account as soon as possible. If you are planning to sell online, accepting credit cards is a necessity.

Credit card processing equipments essential to any business, especially in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. In whatever business, the exploding use of credit cards and debit cards necessitates an investment on a reliable and secure credit card machine. There are a number of companies you can consider when shopping for a credit card processor such as banks, third party credit card processors, independent sales organizations, financial service providers and associations. Inquire about credit card processing equipment and make an informed choice when you decide to purchase.

I. Pervasive Technology

Credit card machines are being used extensively in almost every store and restaurant. These equipments are of great help to businesses as they process credit cards efficiently and securely. There is a huge variety of credit card processing equipment available in the market today and picking the right one appropriate for your business can be a challenge. If you are in the market for a credit card processing equipment, there are some simple tips you can follow to help you find the perfect credit card machine that will serve your intended purpose excellently. With the plethora of credit card machine options available, you might find it hard to decide on what credit card machine to buy. Here’s a simple guide to buying a credit card machine.

II. Buying Advice:

1. Buy, Don't Lease

Credit card machines are not really that costly, usually at the $100-$1000 price range. Consider a credit card machine as a worthwhile investment in your business. Although, there are credit card machine leases available from some merchant account providers. Leasing a credit card terminal may cost you much more in the long run than buying your own unit.

2. Get Battery Backup

Be prepared for any eventuality. In case your store or business establishment experiences a power interruption, you would still want to be able to process customer transactions. Buy a credit card machine with a reliable backup battery to ensure that you can continue to do business even when you lose electrical power.

3. Purchase A Credit Card Machine With A Fast Modem

Credit cards are supposed to make transactions faster and more convenient. Thus, a fast modem that can send data and authorize transactions quickly is a top requirement in a credit card machine. You might shell out more for a credit card machine with a 9600-baud modem, but it is worth the money and our customers will definitely appreciate it too.

4. Ensure It Can Handle Smart Cards

Smart cards are becoming increasingly popular and are considered the future of credit cards. Smart cards include credit, debit, and other information in a card with a microchip in it instead of a magnetic stripe.

5. Flash Memory Is Recommended

For better functionality, choose a credit card machine that use flash memory to store the operating software. This will allow for convenient software downloads and installation and increase the longevity of the equipment.

6. Ensure It Can Handle Debit Transactions

Some customers might prefer paying by debit. For this purpose, you will need a credit card machine with a built-in PIN keypad. You can also consider a separate PIN keypad which your customers can access easily while keeping the credit card processing equipment out of reach.

7. Get An Imprinter As A Backup

This could prove useful in case your store or business establishment loses power or phone service. You can still continue to do business even if you are in the field processing customer transactions.

For more great credit card machine related articles and resources check out http://www.creditcardmachinehq.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Morris
http://EzineArticles.com/?Credit-Card-Machine-Buying-Tips&id=151575

Credit Card Machines

Steps to Getting an Online Merchant Account
By Chris Rempel

For all those who have recently begun a business, the words merchant account, merchant account provider, credit card machine, online payment processing, etc will pop up sooner or later. The Internet is brimming with advice on this subject and you are certain to see the comparison between merchant accounts and other payment methods.

This article will explain the basics of what's truly involved in taking credit cards and the required steps to getting a merchant account - online, offline or otherwise...

What is an Online Merchant Account?

A merchant account is an account obtained from a reputable financial institution like a bank through which you are allowed to accept credit card payments.

The merchant account can also be acquired from specialized financial institutions called "merchant account providers". These financial institutions work with banks to supply unique features that would not be available otherwise.

As soon as you are able to accept payments via credit card, you will see an instant increase in sales, simply because there is now a more expedient payment option for your clients. Since many customer these days prefer to pay with plastic, sales transactions are quicker, and there's decreased risk and less "work" in terms of parting customers and their money.

There are various advantages that can greatly increase your profits once you open your own merchant account: (i) customers will impulse buy more readily, (ii) real time transaction processing, (iii) the resulting flexibility attracts additional customers to finish sales without holdup, and so on. Shortly, you will discover that your business profits (and word of mouth marketing) will will begin improving - simply by being able to accept credit cards - and service more clients...

To set up a merchant account, some things need to take place: The bank or financial institution will conduct a basic investigation into your business' credentials. They will look into your credit history, your business plan, your organization's financial stability (whether you can pay the fees - fixed and per transaction - imposed by the merchant account, etc). After the bank and/or financial institution is confident that the business is able to sustain a merchant account, they will establish the ability of your company to take payments by credit card.

This is the reason any company who owns a merchant account is more trustworthy to a customer. It is well known by consumers that the company who has a merchant account has undergone the rudimentary inspections required by a bank or financial institution and were deemed acceptable. It's similar to having a "stamp of approval", other than the fact that it simplifies the sale on various levels.

You need to be conscious that the majority of merchant accounts require minimum monthly fees to be paid that will be charged regardless of whether you process sales or not that generated fees that month. It's advisable to analyze the fees and features of several merchant accounts providers prior to deciding which one you will choose. And no matter what you do, be certain to read all of the terms and conditions of each potential merchant provider prior to signing on the dotted line...

Another benefit that comes with a merchant account is a comprehensive monthly statement of transactions. This statement will provide you with the credit card number of your customers. This will make it simple for you to match charge-backs or returns, and it will give you precise monthly and yearly sales figures and reports. (Hopefully, you won't be getting any charge-backs...)

Other than the fact that - assisted by the right merchant account - you are able to obtain superior service at the lowest possible costs (the profits skyrocket after your sales volume increases), you can also simplify and automate your company when you're selling online.

And that's what's called working smarter, not "harder". Being able to accept credit cards - and knowing the steps to getting a merchant account - makes it so much easier to see a real level of success with your business...

Chris Rempel, marketing director of Accept by Phone, recently started a "Lens" on the Squidoo Network about merchant account credit card processing.

Check it out here: Merchant Account Credit Card Processing

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Chris_Rempel
http://EzineArticles.com/?Steps-to-Getting-an-Online-Merchant-Account&id=419127

Credit Card Machines

Credit Card Skimming
By Michael Russell

Credit card skimming is an international problem accounting for losses of over one-billion dollars a year. This type of credit card scam is common in Europe, Asia and Latin America and is starting to show up more in the United States.

This scam is easy to run - it can happen when you give your credit card to a store employee to make a purchase. That employee may not only swipe your card for payment, but also swipe the card with a small machine they hold in their hand known as a skimmer. This small device will store the information from your card into its system. The skimmer is equipped to hold information on hundreds of credit cards and from this information, the crooks are able to produce counterfeit cards.

There are skimming rings working all over the world and once your information is put into the skimmer, it is then downloaded into a computer, ready to be emailed to anyone worldwide.

A decade ago, this fraud was not as easy to accomplish as it is today, due to the fact skimmers were very large and had to be hidden under counters. However, with the advance of technology in the past ten years, they have been able to streamline the skimmer, making it small enough to be hand-held and out of sight of the unwary customer making a purchase. These skimmers are easy to buy; in fact, they can be purchased over the internet at around $300. The machine needed to make counterfeit credit cards is a much larger investment - costing $5,000 to $10,000.

Another form of this scam is done by actually pulling information directly from the credit card terminals. A skimmer bug is placed into the terminal and later retrieved with credit card information on it. Only the older terminals can be violated in this way and with the onset of new credit card terminals, this has alleviated much of this bugging.

As soon as the crooks have their needed information on you, they will start their shopping sprees using your credit card number. They purchase all types of merchandise and charge it to your credit card. Over half of credit card fraud is done over the internet with online purchases. With shopping on the internet becoming more and more popular, card fraud on the internet has also increased.

The crooks will also use the internet to verify the card information is valid. They will purchase many low-ticket items through various websites, checking to see if the card is active. Internet processing of card purchases is done by real-time processing and not handled by a person; thus, no chance of them being caught trying to use a stolen card number.

The cardholder is a victim of this crime and is responsible for up to $50 of the total amount charged on his card, while the real victim in all of this is the merchant whose employee did the skimming. The merchant is held 100% responsible and risks losing the merchandise, and is responsible for paying the fees of the investigation. Investigation fees paid by consumers and businesses in 2003 amounted to an estimated half-billion dollars in annual revenue for credit card companies. This money is used by the card companies to offset costs to investigate charge back claims by their customers.

The crook who perpetrates this card fraud, for the most part, goes unpunished. There is a limit of $2,000 before a criminal investigation can be started; the crooks know this and will not exceed $2,000 on their purchases from any one business. Thus, they are pretty much free to continue to victimize consumers and businesses.

Michael Russell

Your Independent guide to Credit Cards

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell
http://EzineArticles.com/?Credit-Card-Skimming&id=363585

Credit Card Machines

Selecting Small Business Phone Systems
By Ocha Nix

With the many different small business phone systems, manufacturers and dealers, it can be a daunting task for small business owners to select the right small business phone system to suit their growing business.

There are a few things that should be considered when selecting small business phone systems to insure you get the right one for you.

First, get a head count of all the employees that will need an outside line. How many of the employees will need to have access to the small business phone system. You also need to add the number of lines you will need for the fax machines, credit card terminals and modems. These all play a part in selecting small business phone systems. If there are less than 10 employees, you should consider an off the shelf small business phone system which will result in considerable savings. When selecting small business phone systems for a staff of more than 40, you may consider the PBX small business phone system. These are now small enough to fit on a desk top.

Next when selecting small business phone systems, you need to forecast your business needs for the future. Determine where your business will be in 3 to 5 years from now. Selecting small business phone systems with this in mind can save lots of headaches and money if you don’t have to upgrade sooner than you expect. Another consideration when selecting small business phone systems, many installers and dealers suggest, double the wiring needed to be prepared for future expansions.

Maybe Voice over IP should also be considered when selecting small business phone systems. This technology allows businesses to place and receive calls using the Internet, which offers potential cost savings.

As you are reviewing small business phone systems for your business, you may want to consider buying second hand phone systems or posibily renting. Many companies change small business phone systems for lots of reasons other than being outdated. There are dealers that specialize in selling refurbished small business phone systems and related equipment.

Another consideration when selecting small business phone systems, is to buy at the end of a quarter. Many sales people are needing to hit their quotas and you can often times get a substantial discount on a new small business phone system.

Lastly, when selecting a small business phone system, consider the dealer and pick one with an outstanding reputation not only for the sale, but for maintenance, and service of your new small business phone system. Be sure, as you are selecting small business phone systems, that the one you choose is compatible with your requirements and the dealer has extensive knowledge of your new small business phone system.

http://www.infoesource.com/sbphonesyst.html

Ocha has been in sales and sales management for over 24 years. Not only can they be used with ease to book hotels or pay for car rentals, but they can also be used at cash machines around the world for instant and safe access to local currencies. They are also far safer than carrying cash, which can be stolen no matter where in the world you are travelling, and more convenient than travellers cheques which can often be difficult or time consuming to cash.

However, with this added convenience comes extra costs. When you use your credit card to make purchases in foreign countries you will be charged currency conversion fees and sometimes also, a loading fee by your credit card provider. This means that there can be two sets of charges added to every purchase you make while abroad. It can be frustrating to get home and find that along with each transaction there is a conversion fee of a couple of pounds and another loading fee also of a few pounds. While it is possible to get cards that have lower fees for foreign currency transactions, it is difficult to avoid these charges completely. Most people put up with them because of the sheer convenience of using the card but there are ways to avoid them.

One way is to take out cash from a cash machine with your credit card. The main disadvantage of this is that you will be charged interest on cash advances immediately, and are not allowed the usual interest free period which lasts until your next bill. However, if your alternative is to make lots of small purchases, with each one incurring its own separate charges, you may be better off taking this once off fee, then lots of smaller ones.

If you are organised enough, you can pay extra money onto your credit card before you leave, so that you will in effect have paid off the cash advance before you take it out, and thus avoid paying interest on it. Another option, if you have money in your bank account and an internationally recognised debit card, such as maestro, is to take out cash on your debit card. While this will incur some foreign charges, at least you will not have to pay any interest on the cash.

At the end of the day, for many people, being able to rely on using their credit cards abroad is a god send and the fees are a reasonable price for the convenience and security afforded.

Joe Kenny writes for the Credit Card Guide, offering the latest 0% credit cards, visit today for introductory balance transfers and start clearing credit card debt today.

Visit today: http://www.cardguide.co.uk/

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny
http://EzineArticles.com/?Credit-Cards-Abroad---How-To-Save-On-Charges&id=225347

Credit Card Machines

Turn Your Website Into An E-Commerce Ready, Money Making Machine
By Jim Hart

If you are setting up a website or contemplating doing so to sell products or services, you will need to be able to accept all major credit cards to maximize your selling ability and chances for success.

Imagine name-brand discount credit card machine solutions that help make you money.

What could be easier?
